Crush your next legal conference (*link to a free guide inside)
Hi gang,
Welcome to Issue #19.
Story:
She works in real estate. She was going to all the right conferences.
Urban Land Institute. CREW. NAIOP. She was in the room—again and again.
But when the networking started, it played out the way it always does for her:
A sea of gray suits. Loud voices. That awkward buzz of the extroverts doing their thing. So, she sipped her coffee, checked her email, and ended up chatting with a random nice architect who wasn’t hiring counsel.
Six months later? Different story.
She’d worked with me to dial it in:
➡️ Her niche? Lenders who finance mixed-use, urban infill HUD developments (100+ units). She started writing content on it, and speaking, too. She started running with her "competitors" and became part of the hub.
➡️ Her edge? She’s a former city planner who can not only decipher HUD's guidance; she can anticipate where snags could arise before they derail a closing.
➡️ Her conference plan? She befriended the organizer beforehand and ID'd the 4 lenders most active—and therefore most likely to need counsel now.
➡️ Her pitch? Practiced, and prepped to screen for decision-makers who are ready, willing and able to pay her pricey rates.
And here’s the real game-changer:
She stopped seeing a sea of gray.
She saw four people in hot pink.
She knew their faces before she walked in the room; she'd read their bios. Googled their recent deals.
She walked in with intention. 🔥
Had she relied on her firm’s BD program, she would have had templates and a little research, but let's face it, they are overstretched. It would be light, if anything. Real BD is on her.
She had realized that paying an expert to help her fix the problem was far cheaper than the cost of keeping the problem.
This woman was (and is) a powerhouse who wanted results.
She needed targeted advice, personalized attention, and support to actually implement a plan that worked for her.
Who needs "help?" CEOs. Elite athletes. Presidents. And you.
We all do.
xo,
Rachel
