Are you ready to unapologetically be yourself?
Good morning, people. It's Issue #2, but it feels (to me) like Day 1. I'm just getting started.
Radical idea: if we want to make change out there, it starts inside of us.
Have any of you been told, or felt the sting, of an implication that you are/were: too bookish, too serious, too opinionated, too colorful, too ethnic, too poor, too angry, too (fill in the blank) ... ?
It makes me sick; leaders with freakin' doctorates, being told we're "too much."
So many of us have internalized the shaming, and whether subconsciously or consciously, we repeat it to ourselves.
Our shame, our insecurity, and our fears can become our "inner drugstore."
And we dose ourselves on it, again and again. The stress level becomes our new normal.
It starts to feel true and familiar, and we don't stop to question it.
Adding to the insanity, many of us think that's our "secret weapon."
Our successes to date were won is in spite of this, not because of it.
Ever time we obey how we've been pressured to behave, we cede ground; our voice gets quieter, we can't help as many people with our uniqueness.
I want you to lay claim to your ground.
I want to model it, too - in a particular way:
Power and influence rooted in kindness.
Remember: when they "go low, we go high" - that's our M.O. .
I want you to get the clients you want, step into your voice and lift up others.
On a personal level, I have been excluded.
I have internalized it, and quieted myself.
Not only did I lose out; the world lost out.
That's insane.
No longer, friends.
Right now, we are offer masterminds (peer learning cohorts) for solo/small firm founders and women partners in BigLaw, but that is "just" where we are starting. Our mission:
To educate women lawyers how to gain access and grow your influence, so that you can lead both compassionately and powerfully.
I need a "few" good women lawyers.
If you know women lawyers who want to grow their influence, please share this newsletter signup link with them, so they don't miss out on what's coming in 2 weeks, in Issue #3:
Private invite, subscribers only. You are already on the guest list.
It's about to get interesting.
See you in two weeks.
xo, R
P.S. Who am I, and why the passion for peer learning? I spill the tea and tell (part of) my backstory, here.
